After three decades of pioneering accomplishments in the field of architecture, founding Principals Nancy Merryman, FAIA, and Linda Barnes, FAIA, along with Principal Doug Benson, FAIA, are transitioning Merryman Barnes Architects, Inc. to the next generation of women ownership led by Amy Palmer, AIA.
When Nancy and Linda founded MBA back in 1992 with then partner Candace Robertson, they were the first 100% women-owned architectural firm in the Portland-Metro area and one of the first in the Pacific Northwest. Their careers have continued to shatter glass ceilings and pave the way for many other women to step into leadership roles within the architectural community.
MBA is delighted to continue the women-owned tradition/legacy with Amy at the helm.
Amy brings over 15 years of design and project management experience to clients, with a sensitivity to the construction end of the business, having spent years in the design-build sector. She earned her Bachelor of Architecture from Washington State University, Pullman, WA, and continued additional coursework in the Master of Architecture program at Cornell University, Ithaca, NY. A registered architect in Oregon and Idaho, Amy is passionate about equity, diversity, and inclusion in the workplace and beyond. She knows it’s the people who make any project succeed.
Nancy, Linda, and Doug are not going far and will be on hand to provide indispensable wisdom and guidance as MBA evolves into a new era. Please join us as we continue create a better community!
