Founded in 1990, Portland Community Reinvestment Initiatives (PCRI) is a nonprofit who preserves, expands and manages affordable housing in Portland and provides services and advocacy for its residents. Their work has been concentrated in Portland’s North and Northeast neighborhoods, the historic home of the city’s African American community.
The King & Parks Apartments, located at the intersection of NE Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd and NE Rosa Parks Way, is a continuation of PCRI’s legacy of community stabilization through housing. The 84,500 square foot building offers 70 units of affordable housing, with a mix of 1 to 3 bedroom units to households earning 30-60% median family income. Several units feature townhome-style entrances that open to the development’s outdoor play area and gathering spaces. A generous community room anchors and enlivens ground floor of the building, which sits at the intersection of two major thoroughfares.
